It's really sad but it seems to me that, now that President Obama is in office, PETA and HSUS seem to think they have a clear opening to fulfill their agenda for the extinction of all domestic animals. They've influenced our wonderful new president into selecting a "designer breed", (Labrodoodle), which are ONLY produced at puppy mills (ironic that the only "rescued" Labrodoodle available has to come from a puppy mill raid in Canada?) and are introducing legislation across the country restricting responsible breeders of pure bred animals, manditory spay/neuter laws and outlawing various breeds. Their massive lobbying efforts seem to be paying off despite overwhelming statistics that existing anti-abuse and anti-puppy mill laws have been working here in the US. If you take a look at the data compiled by the NAIA, (see previous post), every year the numbers of dogs & cats turned in to shelters has DROPPED and the numbers of euthanized animals has dropped dramatically. Well meaning animal lovers are supporting the puppy mills with their purchases of theses "designer breeds" (clever marketing label for what used to be called "mixed-breed" or "mutt" and people are paying Hundreds of dollars for them when they could be supporting their local shelters) because they've been brainwashed by PETA/HSUS into thinking that responsible breeders are evil. These "evil" breeders are the only ones Not making a profit from their breedings, treating their animals most often as members of their families and are the only ones researching their health and temperament improvements...all for the love of their breeds. It's a crying shame!!!!
