Laws only effect the "law-abiding". How many criminals and murderers stopped carrying guns when it became "illegal"?
I live with several dogs, three of which are intact sexually because they are showing and I may plan to breed them once or maybe even twice (between the ages of 2 and 5, if I can find a stud with better health pedigree etc.), they sleep with me in my bed, I home cook their food and tend to their needs, keep them clean (they sleep with me remember?), clean up after them, entertain them and keep them healthy and happy. They are my Family! According to this Illinois law, because I am a law abiding citizen, I would license my dogs and I would be considered a puppy mill. My 10 year old house would not conform to the federal requirements (and I can't afford a new one) so they would confiscate and maybe euthanize my sweet fur-kids...and I wouldn't be able to argue because I would probably be in jail too. Meanwhile, a Real puppy mill just across town who keeps their animals in abusive conditions to keep costs low enough to make a profit from their puppy sales, will continue un-noticed because they of course will not license their animals and will not draw attention to themselves. Figure that one out people?
If PETA/HSUS has their way, all that will be left are illegal puppy mills producing over-bred in-bred stock because all the pure bred and shelter dogs have been spayed/neutered. Bull dogs will be extinct because someone didn't like their looks. PETA/HSUS recruits people to spy on their neighbors and report them...(Anyone know who McCarthy was? or the other side, the KGB?)...Folks, this is really BAD and has to be stopped!
